A kiter at my local persists on bringing her dog to my no access to dogs local. She clearly has never seen or experienced the damage that can be done by an excited dog jumping on or running over a kite. I have experienced it first hand at least 6 times and the end result is never good. She obviously has zero consideration for other kiters on that beach or she would obey the 3 signs she deliberately ignores at the entrance to the beach stating no access to dogs.
Ever had your or someone you knows' kite damaged by a dog? Was that a good experience for you? How should this self centric inconsiderate individual be treated?

A kiteboarding mate of mines dog run over my kite and put several holes in the canopy
He payed for a professional repair voluntarily.
While not a great experience. It didn't effect our friendship or the kites performance

How much was the kite devalued by, once it had several repairs? Multiple hundreds no doubt. Thanks for the input.

She's been spoken to at least 4 times by me and who knows how many other times by others over the last 2 years. Logic respect and common courtesy are not considerations that in her mind outweigh her perceived inconvenience of the use of the provided pathway or parking area for the dog beach.

Spoken to by Ranger with a $100 or $200 infringement in hand.... different result I bet.

People that dont follow the rules allways piss me off just that little bit more then when its just common courtesy like there shouldnt even be a sign. And then when they do it even tho there is a sign its like... what tards and given that theres a sign they dont even put dog on a long leash to a fence post or to the car???

Calling Rangers the only way because if you tell her straight like as if she was a bloke
"oi ****wit tie your dog up or ill get the ranger involved" then some guy trying to get his end wet will slash your car tires in retribution or some other sneeky thing.

So you just gotto do the sneeky ranger call out smile and be friendly entire time and then just shrug and say wow... some people huh?? Who would have called a ranger? Must have been a beach jogger?!

Also do a rego check on her licence plates and if theyve expired tell the concil theres an unregoed abandoned vehicle at the beach.

And superglue the tire air valve caps on

If a dog chases kites and the owner finds it funny i just keep my kite reaaallllll low to water and lure the dog out into deeper and deeper water its hilarious watching the owner go from laughing hahaha my dogs trying to bite that guy to omfg my dogs too far out to swim back and im too fat to go after him

Could just feed the dog blocks of choclate? The theobromine ****s them up i hear.

Or start eating woolies roasted chicken sandwiches for lunch before kiteing squish the bones into the bread and leave the bone filled bread in the bushes.

I know! Dig a big hole in the sand and cover it up with palm leaves then rig your kite up over the palm leaves so if the dog maliciously runs over your kite it falls into the pit before it can get to it.

Maybe breed some snails infect them with the green branded broodsac worms that have that brain control virus and tie some uncle jacks beef jerky to theyre backs and when the chick eats the meat the snails parasite will work theyre way into her mind then you can just mind control her into tieing the dog up to her car with a waterbowl and some shade.

We have a no dog policy at our local. The next beach over is a dog beach. Yet people still feel the need to take their dogs where ever they want. Although it hasn't been too much of an issue here in the past, there are times were I have had to ask people to get their dog off the beach. Most are polite and do so, (pretending that they didn't see the signs), others are rude and give you the look. We have endangered nesting shore birds so the rangers are very active and we have extra signs for no dogs.
As mentioned above, Rangers are your best option right now. The fact that she continues to do it without any care shows what kind of selfish person she is. She would be vibed right out of our beach, and we are a very friendly bunch of locals here.

I was quite amazed to see people walk their dogs right past the enormous "no dogs" sign last time I was home.

Or the ones parking their camping van right in front of the sign that says "no freedom camping".

Or the ones parking their camping van right in front of the sign that says "for wind sports users only".

Or the ones fishing right next to the "no fishing from here" sign.

Or the ones who drive their car through the gate that says "for wind sports users only" and proceed to get huffy when the gate is locked.

I blame the education system for failing to teach the to read well.

Had a lady with a out of control large puppy, and even after telling her several times to keep her dog away would let it run around kites. Unfortunately this dog jumped up and bit the leading edge as I was relaunching a student who was struggling to keep the kite up. When confronted got very defensive started walking off, handed the dog to her partner and then they split walking in opposite directions. So I could not follow them back to their car.

What disappointed me most was that other kiters present did not help me confront the couple, especially one well known local kiter who is a pilot and was also giving kite lessons at the time.

Its kind of one of those things you never think its going to happen to you until it does. Most dog owners are responsible, and even if they pay fair price for repairs the kite has lost value instantly so it doesn't end well for anyone.

Gold! Vodka.
I see I've found a fellow dog attack victim.

Some people think dog attacks are rare. Medical records show 3,000 Australians are hospitalised from dog attacks every year. The number of minor attacks must be in the tens of thousands.

Was once doing a lesson on St Kilda circa 2010 and the student insisted I taught them to on their Naish Aero. I was like no way, that thing will kill you, and he was just insistent. So I inflated it to show him how bad it was compared to modern kites. I even flew it and was just battling with it (squally weather).
So after landing it I was just trying to convince him there was no way this was a good idea, and then as if sent from the heavens a transvestite in some massive heels stumbles along past us in the sand with her big mastiff cross looking thing which proceeds to just leap all over the kite, ripping it's canopy to shreds. It continues jumping up and down on the kite until the leading edge pops too and then they wander off. The guys jaw was nearly on the sand, and the tranny wouldn't even acknowledge our yells, she was possibly the highest looking motherfu c ker I had ever seen too, so like no point even bothering arguing about it.

Damn it was funny, I saw a lot of weird sh it on that beach. But that kite was like tissue paper vs that dogs paws.

You know what pisses me off?
Rules for the sake of rules.
A kite beach, a dog beach?
Why not just have a beach? multiple users use the beach in consideration to others.....!

In my landboarding days it was common for dogs to chase me and try and bite my tires. It was hilarious. Unless the wind was like sub 10 knots I could always burn off the dog. I would slowly burn away so the dog was just out of reach of my wheels. All the while the owner would be yelling at the dog to stop. Now the beach is 2km long. So I would burn away with the dog chasing while the owner's cries diminished in the background a km or so down the beach. I would then rip back at full speed and so fast that the dog couldn't keep up. Leaving the dog and owner separated by a km or so.......

The owner would be running down the beach and the dog would be like, wheres my owner gone. ****, it was funny.
I'd then rip back and get the dog chasing me back until re-united with the dog. They would always apologize for the dog's behaviour.

Morrel of the story? protect your own **** and don't worry about dicks and Karens of the world. Don't let their dick behaviour drag you down. There's one dog on a beach? its not that hard to wait until the dog has passed your location to launch land and protect your ****.

You clearly haven't had your kite destroyed by dog, stepped in a fresh turd that the owner kicked sand over, or had you child terrorised or worse savaged by a dog.

Stepped in turds yes, had dogs running around and kites yes, been bitted by a dog whole land boarding yes, scared kids yes, kite damage no, mauled kids no.

I ran over a rat dog one time too.

In truth kite surfing is far easier as far as dog interaction is concerned. All we need to do is to time the pump up, deflate launch/land for when there aren't dogs close. It's not too hard at all.

Probably could have rung the rangers 3x in the time its taken to whine in this thread.

I remember one time I was high AF after a night in drag at the P00f Doof. I was walking my dog in the morning and I was so ripped I forgot to take my heels off. Hard going in the sand. Suddenly this guy lands a big kite thing in front of me and dog went to town on it. Funny as hell. I just kept walking I had to keep up with the goblin

There's no dog beach/no dog beach locally and it works. Sure there are occasional rouge dogs and dog owners. But it's easy to anticipate them and act accordingly.

The reality is there will always be rouge people. You can choose a life of annoyance or simply adopt a process that limits the potential damage or your gear and not be annoyed.

Side note. I also have some old man rages at random things. Don't get me started on avocados!....

I'm not sure the half dozen times I've seen a dog destroy a kite in front of my eyes the kite owner could anticipate what was going to happen or had any opportunity to avoid the unprovoked attack.
I will just live in hope that one day indifferent individuals such as you and the selfish individual who is the subject of this thread get one or more of their kites shreaded by a uncontrolled dog, and let's hope it's a $3000 foil kite.
I image you would have a different take on it then.
