Somehow some Newbs have gotten the idea that Pelican Point is a good place to learn, and it's shallow with calm enough river water so I can see the reasoning, but it is literally the sketchiest place in the whole world I have ever launched. Definitely not for newbies, not even safe for experienced kiters, **** goes bad really quick, another kite in a tree today...lucky too, if his kite hadn't met the first tree his face would've met a shoreline of stone and wood.
There's other reasons why the spot doesn't suit newbies but my post is a little long winded.

No. Looks like there was two in a row. The other was a Cab in a tree...typical Cabs
I take it you are not talking about Pelican Point in Carnarvon. It is a great spot for beginners with a very supportive team of locals. Still has a few hazards to be aware of though.
