So just got off the water after flying the Core Nexus 2 -9M. I mainly ride surfboards but once apon an exciting time I could do tricks on my twin tip too. Which today got me thinking about this kite in that context...normally I don't give a turkle.

Today I actually had an really awesome session...waves were junk...wind was so so 15-17gusts...I was flying the new 9m Nexus 2. I dont normally get excited about kites over 8M infact last year my big kite was an 8M. OK so I am saying that I REALLY like this 9m kite infact I am saying that its (for me) the best 9m I have ever flown. . EVEEERRRRRR there you go I said it.
SO I am then thinking with its flying charectistrics being like a well matured red wine...I must be a wankr.. along with bad grammer.

No seriously heres the low down
- Its smooth AF
-Turns fast AF
It makes you feel like you are kiting ,,,,forget about all this fairy bar pressure fairy floss crap...this kite is a serious sports car. Like you can feel the grunt and the performance...big bore performance...No scooter riding nancys need apply with this kite. OK now I have beat my chest and scratched in glee. Im thinking this....

This kite applies fun to all kite disciplines...Freeride, Foil, Waves, Freestyle. The swing to pop before boosting is sublime. The kite loops with power and control. Really it kind of lends itself to fly it to your style.

Its got smooth controllable performance with an edge...BEFORE you go and try to shoot me down ask your self have you flown this kite...NO then STFU..people cant be FKD listening to an un researched vommit. My suggestion is go fly it and then give some feedback..Thats why we are here right??

SO heres my sell on this....ITs XMAS you are wondering what would make your girlfriend super stoked!!! RIGHT ?? Yes .....THE PERFECT GIFT...neatly wrapped under the tree a Core Nexus 2... "BABE I researched this kite and it is the perfect kite for YOU...the adrenaline after flying this kite will only come second to the satisfaction of getting pinned to the kitchen bench when the kids are at grandmas. " (or reform form words to that affect)

LONG story short if you are after one quiver of kites that kicks ass legit. Then get a demo flowing at your local CORE shop..its got my vote as best on ground...BUT I want to hear what you think......if you are in perth metro then Action Sports have a bunch to demo. They will give the time of day and let you test kites.

Standby tommorow wind permitting the 6M NEO SLS I have heard allot about is going to get thrashing.

PS for the strictly wave guys I was up north recently for swell and the Nexus was solid down the line..drift and power on when needed. Fly one mofos
PSS Because my review is short on technical content I quite liked these guys explanation

Haha - best review I've read in a while - my girlfriend REALLY needs oneshe (cough cough) weighs around 67kg - any feedback on the wind range a half decent rider can expect from the 9m
topend?

Cheers
much appreciated!

If you, I mean your misses is 67kg's, just buy a 7. I own both 7 & 9 and at 80kgs very rarely pull the 9 out of the bag because the 7 covers 95% of its range. Down to 17knots Ill still pull the out the 7,.. 15-17 I use the 9

Thanks Gazuki, Finally managed to get a demo on a 9m on my normal TT and I love this kite!
I have no affiliation with Core, 67kg - average jack of all trades rider - here are my thoughts...

Bear in mind I'm coming off 6 year old gts3 kite quiver, so there's always gonna be some development in overall kite flying characteristics - maybe any new kite I try would seem great?? - but the nexus 2 has such a sublime kind of direct connection / feeling, it's lovely ...

It's Quick, super direct and it's floaty enough in the jumps (very decent jumps!), but you do have to be aware of where the kite is when you're in the air, or it tends to drop you like a stone, could just be the crappy driver?- I probably need a few sessions to dial that in...

The 9 has a great top end - gusts up to 33 knots and never felt like I was losing the plot...
Small changes on the de-power rope - gives nice, very subtle changes in response.

Two things that really blew me away:
1) The drift on this kite - I only tried it on the mid setting, (so not the wave one) - really awesome drift - I mean, REALLY.... Ok I wasn't surfboarding it as the waves were mush, but I can see this being a very decent wave kite.
2) The width of the "sweet spot" - hard to define, but for me - this kite just got on with it - even though It was a super gusty day, it just didn't seem fussed about anything and I found myself easily getting into "the zone" where thought evaporates and I just ride!??

At the top end of the wind range, the bar did start to feel quite heavier than I'm used to - maybe playing with the settings will help with this - I had the back lines connected to the back position and front lines on the middle knot.

Overall - I think it does exactly what it says - great allrounder.
I already loved the Core kite feel and build quality, so this is the right move for me!

Interesting to read gts to nexus change. I just went the other way.

talk of nexus got me curious, so bought a 7m. First session I thought the kite was trying to kill me. Really have to pilot this kite compared to section. Find the nexus is more efficient- it is faster and creates more apparent wind. Flies noticeably further forward in the window. With much heavier bar pressure. I think the bar pressure of the 7m nexus2 is the same possibly more than 10m section3.

section sits deeper in the window so drifts better and power is more on off on demand, finding I have to position(pilot) the nexus better to get similar results. The section is very forgiving with a very predictable power development from anywhere in the window, nexus is explosive or even lazy depending on position in window. The depower stroke is half the length on the section(way better IMO). Nexus has much better upwind tacking angles and float down from a jump.

Not saying either kite is better or worse they are just very different. Although I have only flown the 7m nexus, i feel the drift of the section would make it a better choice in the larger sizes 11m+ for light wind wave riding. But then a roam or single strut would be even better.

The bottom end of the 7m nexus is surprising. Last week I pumped the 7, while same weight rider pumped an 11m. He said I wouldn't get off the beach with a 7, although lightly powered i kited comfortably...wtf? So I think the 7m nexus has a slightly better bottom end than the 8m section.

I also found this interesting.
I'm currently looking at upgrading my quiver of Enduros. In the Core range I've demo'd the GTS6, Nexus2 and XR7.

To me the Nexus2 is a very similar kite to the Enduro. Which is similar to a Dice, Switchblade and probably a bunch of others. An all rounder with decent but not great pop and hangtime. Good drift for wave riding. There's differences between them all but minor in comparison.

The GTS is much faster and twitchier and feels less like a beginners kite than the aforementioned all rounders.

I'm contemplating 8 & 12m GTS for freeride and occasional wave riding and a 10m XR7 for when I want big boosting.

Hey phoney, have a ride on an orbit 9 or 10.

xr a boring/beginner level kite IMO. Think the 10m Xr is similarly powered to an 11gts. So I'm reading an 8,11, 12m quiver sizing. I m 75kg and that combo would frustrate me. 90kg plus I could see some merit?

@75kg for me I would choose 7gts, 9xr, and 13.5gts, in the same brand/kite models mentioned. Will not ever buy that combo, just simons kooky opinion- good luck phoney.

For context on orbit comment;

i see a local 83kg rider using 10m orbit like a one kite quiver, he has 5 kites, one of which is an Xr6 he rarely uses.

Seems to choose 10 orbit for 15-30knts on a surfboard, and low 20s to 35knts on a twin tip. Describe his style as boosting, looping, wave riding, with the odd handle pass. He also foils, although never on the orbit.

Apologies for getting off topic. I use 2 or 3 kites to cover the same wind range. I have heard others complain about the low end of the orbit, perhaps more about rider skills than the kite?

Yeh 100% agree the low end on the 7m is great main reason I prefered it to the section it has more power in the swing like you saids creating apparent wind.. Poor old Alullas not keeping up on 9s sshhhh
