I am trying to figure out if it is ok to go to my nearest beach and go kiting for an hour. I have looked at the government website and all it says is you can exercise in your neighborhood for 1 hour, there is no definitions as to what exercise you can do and what constitutes the "neighborhood".
I live around 5 minutes drive from the beach but the beach is not in the same suburb that I live in. Is this still my neighborhood?
I am happy enough to respect the lockdown rules for 5 days but also feel I can safely do my normal exercise in my local area.
Any thoughts?
From ABC live:
Mr Dawson also clarified the rules around exercise and said it means people cannot go further than five kilometres from their home."I've checked this personally with our Chief Health Officer you must wear a mask at all times, so even if you're used to jogging, you'll have to jog with a mask on," he said."We know it's hot weather but you can't just simply say I'm going to drive 25 kilometres to go to the beach."Mr Dawson also said officers would "act with discretion" when enforcing the new rules."If people are warned and they do not accept the warning and they do this two or maybe even three times, they will get a $1000 infringement," he said."If there's a desperate situation or someone's by themselves and they're vulnerable, police will act with compassion like we did last time."He also said officers would try and hand masks out to those who don't have their own, where possible.
Thanks for posting this.
I have seen this info also, I just measured on Google maps and I am 3.1km from the beach!!
I am gonna mask up and hit it!
Repost from STB - here is the directions from WA police. Don't be an idiot about it and you should be ok...
If you have a bullbar and reverse in, hang a towel and cover your numberplate, head out for as long as you want!
