Hi Buddy. What are you trying to achieve ?. Do you want to order a board from an interstate shop/seller and ascertain how it will be shipped to you ?. Or do you want to fly interstate to buy a board in person from shop/seller, and transport board back to your home state ? (or both options ?)

Sorry for the confusion.
I found a good deal for a second hand gear at other state. I don't know how to deliver to me. Either way, worth it.
Because delivery /express looks expensive.
Thanks!

I had a board delivered from an honest seller with E-go and it worked really well. Others have had such a good experience.

I'd be asking myself if I trust the seller. If being sold through Seabreeze, how long has the seller been a member? Otherwise, is it being sold through a reputable shop?

If neither of these, can you get a friend living where the article is to inspect before it is sent?

It might be a bargain, but, if it seems too good to be true, . . .

Have sent and received a fair few boards by couriers. So far so good.
I have used E-go a number of times. It is generally a fair bit cheaper to send depot to depot if possible.
I did price to send a board I have in Launceston back up to Brisbane. From memory I sent it down for around $150 about 5 years back. Quote to send it back is now around $270. Not sure if others have found the prices have jumped this much?
You can bring them on some flights, but you will need to check into it. I brought one I purchased back with me a few years back on Jetstar as oversized baggage and I think it cost me around 60 or 70 dollars. You are limited to 230cm with them, as they need to fit into the baggage containers they load . They do say you can't carry sailboards, but I think that is because the masts are too long. Mine was just in a board bag and was not damaged at all.

I have both sold and bought gear interstate. I have used eGo for shipping from my end. They were mostly fine. A couple of notes though. Cheapest option is always depot to depot. Also make sure get exact measurements of your package. As you are probably paying by volume weight not actual weight even small increases in dimensions can amount to significantly more cost.

Make sure you keep checking on the package location in the tracking notifications. I had one shipment were the package was sitting at the Brisbane depot but the recipient was never notified of it arriving. Only after I called around to find out where the hold up was they finally told me it's been sitting in the Brisbane depot for a couple of weeks.

As for taking it on a plane, you can always put a post up on Seabreeze or windsurf specific Facebook groups. Qantas will take it as an extra bag for $25. You'd have to arrange a drop off and pickup at airport though and most likely throw in a case of beer as a thank you.

I tried to send a board via ego a few weeks ago. When I dropped it off at the depot I was told they no longer take "surf boards" and would have to get a refund. After packaging to withstand the roughest of couriers and driving it to the depot it's a few hours of my life I will never get back. The price had also doubled from a few months ago when I sent a previous board. I got some other quotes but they were way too expensive.

I recently sold a twin tip kiteboarding and a kite to Queensland from WA, Australia Post wouldn't take the board because it was longer than 1.25m, so I tried Pack and Send. The guy measured it all up and said that the cost would be $445, to which I politely told him he had to be ****** joking. Ended up costing $200 with E-Go.

Seems like freight for boards is getting more expensive, it wasn't that long ago that I sent a 2.4 m long speed board over east for $100, now it costs a small fortune.

There are a couple of statements above ^^ claiming that prices have increased lately. I thought I'd put that to the test. I have always used E-Go freight when buying and selling used boards and sails. Gear has always arrived at each end in a timely fashion and within the estimated time shown on the E-Go site at time of booking. Never had any damage to gear bought or sold. When selling, I always check in with the purchaser to ensure the gear arrives without damage. So, I got two quotes on 30/10/20 on the E-Go site to send a windsurf board from Mackay Qld to Victoria. I got the same quotes 5 mins ago as a comparison.

30/10/20 10kg x 1 piece x 75wide x 18high x 260deep, Depot to Depot, Mackay to South Melbourne $162.01

Quote today for exactly the above $157.64

30/10/20 10kg x 1 piece x 75wide x 18high x 260deep, Depot to Door (VIC 3918] $238.00

Quote today for exactly the above $238.00

so, I'm not sure where people are seeing the increased prices.

The biggest tip I can give when freighting with E-Go is pack the gear really well and don't bullsh!t the dimensions. If you understate the dimensions you will eventually get caught out and you will have to pay the difference. It happened to me when I bought a board from a guy in Melbourne, I organised the freight and unwittingly under stated the dimensions. Luckily I got the board for a bargain because the extra cost was about $200. It is more likely that the dimensions will get tested if the freight is going through a big depot in a big city which most of the time it does.

I have just rung the Mackay Qld depot for E-Go freight and was told that they haven't heard an announcement from E-Go regarding refusing to freight boards. They said they have had a directive that boards are no longer to be accepted unless they are packaged correctly. Just for info, they have a length limit at that depot of 4 metres. They suggested I call Hunter Express for clarification.

I then rang Hunter Express (operator of E-Go) and was told that 3 weeks ago E-Go announced they would no longer freight boards but this has since been changed to they will no longer freight boards that are not correctly packaged due to ease of damage. The rep I spoke to said they need the boards to be packaged as if they were new, I.e. in a cardboard carton with plenty of packing filling voids to prevent damage. She said that too many people were previously sending boards in board bags only and this will no longer be accepted. I would suggest this is common sense.

How happy would you be if your newly purchased board arrived in a board bag only. That's insane to send a board, any board like that.

I was going to say something along the lines of "who in their right mind would send anything via freight without packaging it properly"... but then I remembered a guy at Perth Airport trying to checkin a surfboard without board bag or any other form of protection. Naturally airline would take it so he wrapped it in towels and a sleeping bag and take it up with packing tape.

John from Boardrun does a run for boards from just South of Sydney to Sunshine coast, every couple of weeks. Between $60-100. Gear arrives perfectly. He has a Big van with internal racks for longboards, whatever.
Have sent n received bare boards masts etc. No problemo. Never any damage.Top guy to deal with.
